Background
During my Google UX Professional Certificate program, I worked on developing an innovative solution for enhancing the visitor experience in art galleries. The challenge was to create an app, that addresses the common frustration visitors face when trying to access detailed information about the artwork on display. Visitors often struggle with identifying specific pieces and lack convenient access to related merchandise. The goal was to design a user-friendly app that allows users to easily scan and identify artwork, learn more about each piece, and seamlessly connect to the museum's gift shop for purchasing related items.

Enhancing the Art Gallery Experience
Imagine walking into a renowned art gallery, surrounded by masterpieces from different eras and styles. While the beauty of the artwork captivates you, the experience is often hampered by a lack of information. You might find yourself standing in front of a painting, intrigued by its details but unable to fully appreciate its significance. This frustration sparked the idea behind Artastic.

Research and Insights: Understanding the Needs
To begin, I conducted thorough research, including competitor analysis and user interviews. I visited several museums and art galleries to observe how visitors interacted with the exhibits. The insights were clear: visitors wanted more information at their fingertips without relying on limited wall labels or cumbersome audio guides. Many expressed a desire to purchase souvenirs related to the art they admired but found it inconvenient to locate these items in the gift shop

Smartfy
Strengths: Smartify is a popular app that allows users to scan artworks and instantly receive detailed information. It boasts a vast database and partnerships with major museums, offering rich content and high accuracy in artwork identification.
Weaknesses: The app's interface, while functional, can be cluttered, making navigation challenging for less tech-savvy users. Additionally, Smartify’s focus is primarily on providing information, with limited integration for purchasing related merchandise.

Google Arts & Culture
Strengths: This app offers a vast repository of artworks from around the world, complete with virtual tours, high-resolution images, and in-depth descriptions. It’s a powerhouse for art enthusiasts who want to explore art from the comfort of their own homes.
Weaknesses: Google Arts & Culture is more of a digital art gallery than an on-site companion tool. Its comprehensive nature can be overwhelming, and it lacks the on-the-spot scanning and museum shop integration that Artastic aims to provide.

Wireframes and StoryBoards
Wireframes and StoryBoards
In the early stages of designing Artastic, I created hand-drawn wireframes and storyboards to map out the user flow and key features. This approach allowed me to quickly experiment with layouts and ideas, laying the foundation for the app’s user experience.

Testing and Iteration: Refining the Experience
The initial design was tested with potential users, revealing the need for simplified navigation and a faster, more reliable scan feature. Based on feedback, I iterated on the design, particularly addressing concerns about the cluttered home menu. By merging the "Exhibitions" and "Near Me" features into one section, I streamlined the user experience, making it easier for users to navigate and discover local art and nearby exhibitions.
